Louise coordinates the UK’s National Preventive Mechanism and is based at HM Inspectorate of Prisons (London).
She is Visiting Fellow at the Human Rights Centre, University of Essex. Prior to her current role, Louise worked in research and advocacy roles at Amnesty International, the Centre for Reproductive Rights and ARTICLE 19. She also worked for the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health, with a focus on reproductive health and rights, and worked with national human rights organisations for five years in Peru, including as part of the prisons team of the Peruvian Truth and Reconciliation Commission. As coordinator of the UK NPM, she works with its 21 national member organisations to implement international standards relating to detention and detention monitoring.
